It goes without saying I have an incredible passion for helping people achieve their best quality of life possible. Unfortunately life can be full of road blocks and the debilitating effects of pain, joint dysfunction, injuries and chronic disease can drastically impact how we experience this life.

I’ve been a health nerd my entire life and I like to believe my journey with regenerative medicine began with my curiosity about the natural healing process.

Prior to my journey with medicine I recognized a phenomenon happening with many of my personal training clients. They all presented with pre-existing conditions, debilitating pain, physical dysfunction and they were all on NSAIDs which got me thinking…

“There has to be a better way”

I knew in my gut there was something else that could be done to help people (like my clients) find resolution to their suffering and dysfunction. I wanted to find ways to bio-hack the healing process so I could address the root causes of my client’s issues rather than mask their pain with medications.

In my search for answers I had the pleasure of meeting the late Dr. Garry Shohet. He encouraged me to pursue my vision and with his guidance I applied to medical school and my journey with regenerative medicine was underway.

Late one night while studying for an upcoming anatomy exam, I stumbled across a video of Neil Riordan, PA, PhD, who was discussing the success of his research in Panama utilizing the application of culture expanded umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to treat spinal cord injuries. His results were so astounding that I spent the rest of my free time researching stem cell therapies. I had so many questions regarding the use of stem cells in the US and I soon stumbled upon other pioneers like Dr. Harry Adelson of Docere Clinics who has set the bar very high for stem cell interventions from bone marrow and adipose tissue. Needless to say I was hooked.

In my fourth year of medical school I had the benefit of receiving my first regenerative injection therapy (RIT) from another pioneer, Dr. Tyna Moore who graciously used prolotherapy to treat my severely sprained ankle after I had fallen off of a 40 foot cliff while hiking in Arizona. This therapy dramatically improved my ankle function, greatly reduced my pain and accelerated my healing time significantly.

To better understand the art of placing a needle and the efficacy of the various solutions available I began to experiment on myself, first with prolotherapy and then PRP. By injecting my various joints, ligaments, tendons, muscle tissue and skin I was able to gain valuable first hand experience both as a patient and as the physician. This knowledge was absolutely vital to educating my patients about their treatment options and what to expect from the various procedures and outcomes.

During my residency I applied this knowledge & various regenerative injection therapies to many of my patients with great success and I soon recognized the need for a specialist to help teach the people of Hawaii (and beyond) about the amazing world of regenerative medicine. I’m blessed to have the opportunity to alter the reactionary healthcare model by delivering the future of healing to all of my patients through safe, natural regenerative treatments. Long gone are the days of symptom management through addicting or toxic pharmaceutical drugs and radical surgeries. We now have the technology to revive, regenerate and restore human tissue.
