WHATS IN AN IV?
Myer’s Cocktail IV
The most commonly used nutrient IV is the Meyer’s cocktail, praised for it’s combinations of vitamins, minerals and electrolytes to restore cellular health & function. The Meyers IV has been used to treat:
General Fatigue
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/fibromyalgia
Upper respiratory tract infections
Chronic sinus infections
Seasonal Allergies
Migraine Headaches
Muscle Spasms
Menstrual cramps
Athletic Performance
This IV contains:
Sodium Chloride - normal saline is used to carry nutrients into the blood stream while aiding cellular hydration
Vitamin C - assists in the production of immune cells boosting overall immune function, improves wound healing & collagen production, provides rich antioxidant, aids in allergy support
B-Vitamins - these vitamins act as cofactors to enhance cellular metabolism increasing ATP (energy production), promotion of healthy DNA replication and lowering elevated levels of inflammatory homocysteine.
Magnesium - is require for DNA replication, transcription into RNA and translation into protein/enzyme. It is used in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body and helps to maintain muscle and nerve function along with aiding the immune system and cardiovascular system.
Calcium - plays key roles in cell signaling, blood clotting, nerve function, cellular absorption and its primary role to support bone health.
Trace Minerals
Zinc - facilitates wound healing, helps maintain normal growth rates, normal skin hydration and senses of taste and smell.
Copper - is an essential cofactor for formation of the iron carrier protein, transferrin. Copper also helps maintain normal rates of red and white blood cell formation.
Manganese - is an activator for enzymes such as polysaccharide polymerase, liver arginase, cholinesterase and pyruvate carboxylase.
Chromium - Chromium helps to maintain normal glucose metabolism and peripheral nerve function.
Selenium - is part of glutathione peroxidase which protects cell components from oxidative damage due to peroxides produced in cellular metabolism.
Glutathione Push
Glutathione (GSH) is your body’s number one antioxidant. It is comprised of three amino acids Glutamine, Glycine & Cysteine. Appropriate levels of GSH can diminish with aging, stress, poor sleep, poor nutrition/lifestyle habits and environmental toxic exposure. Boosting your levels of glutathione can greatly reduce the effects of oxidative stress on your body. Glutathione improves metabolic function and combats the effects of stress & aging that causes debilitating cellular damage. A glutathione push is a simple and easy procedure with amazing benefits by itself or in addition to an IV giving your body the cellular boost it needs to combat the daily rigors of life.
Glutathione Push contains:
Glutathione (rGSH) - reduced GSH is the active form of glutathione
Sodium Chloride - normal saline used as a carrier of rGSH into the blood stream
Kona Coffee IV (Poly-MVA)
Our Kona Coffee IV (poly-mva) is a combination of vitamins minerals and amino acids for rapid boosts in energy and anti-aging. Poly-MVA is a dark solution with similar color notes to our famous Kona Coffee (hence the name). Chronic illness, daily toxic exposures and western lifestyle habits can severely deplete our vitality. Poly-MVA supports mitochondrial health via energy production, anti-oxidant support and upregulation of antioxidant enzymes glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase. This IV is commonly infused alongside our Meyer’s cocktail IV for enhanced cellular nutrition, improved mental clarity and increased energy production.
Poly-MVA contains:
⍺-lipoic acid
Palladium
B vitamins: B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), B12 cobalamin
Amino acids: N-acetyl cysteine, formyl methionine
Trace amounts: rhodium, ruthenium, molybdenum
High Dose IV Vitamin C (HDIVC)
Therapeutic outcomes of vitamin C are dose dependent. Low dose applications of vitamin C under 10g/infusion for immune support and anti-inflammatory properties found in common treatments like the Meyer’s cocktail IV and oral supplementation. When the systemic levels of vitamin C exceed 10g/infusion the concentrations of vitamin C are considered high dose. Once blood concentrations of vitamin C reach higher doses, the mechanism of action shifts from anti-oxidant to pro-oxidant. The application of high-dose intravenous vitamin C (HDIVC) is widely used as an adjunct therapy in cancer care and anti-infective protocols like lyme’s disease. Practitioners in the field of oncology commonly use HDIVC to aid the use of anti-cancer medications through synergistic pro-oxidative effects. HDIVC creates an oxidative burst to all cells through hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and unlike healthy cells which contain the enzyme catalase (used to neutralize this oxidative burst), cancer cells do not produce catalase in effective enough levels to combat the oxidative stress thereby damaging the cancer cells. In clinical research the pro-oxidative effect has improved efficacy of certain anti-cancer therapies while supporting the patient's tolerance to their anti-cancer medications.
Prior to administration of a HDIVC protocol your physician will perform common blood tests to check kidney function, liver function blood cell health and levels of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme (G6PD). Although rare, patients with a G6PD deficiency are not good candidates for HDIVC as this can lead to hemolytic anemia several hours after an infusion and can be fatal. Caution should also be taken with any patient who has poor kidney clearance or uncontrolled diabetes. Some patients can become hypoglycemic during a HDIVC infusion and it is recommended to eat a protein rich meal prior to or during your infusion. HDIVC therapy increases systemic oxidation and the addition of glutathione or B vitamins during the same day as the HDVIC infusion is contraindicated.
The HDIVC contains:
Sterile water - sterile water is preferred over normal saline for it’s isotonic solution to decrease the osmolality when high doses of vitamin C are administered. This makes the solution more comfortable to the veins.
Vitamin C - in high doses above 10g/infusion, vitamin C acts as a pro-oxidant.
Magnesium, Potassium & Calcium - mineral salts are added to help combat changes in electrolyte blood chemistry during treatment.
